RCKIB president Alfred F. Praus and member Olga Vashakmadze have attended the 5 year anniversary of our sponsor club Rotary Club Lviv International (RCLI) on May 28, the District 2232 (Belarus-Ukraine) conference and the gala evening on May 29, 2021 in the beautiful city of Lviv.

All was perfectly organized, the program was interesting and inspiring, and the atmosphere created by the attendees was splendid.

It was a true pleasure getting acquainted to very interesting people in an elegant atmosphere, building a valuable network and developing joint ideas for cooperation.

Rotary Club Kyiv International Business (RCKIB) received a warm welcome and Alfred F. Praus informed the attendees about its mask project - 416 000 masks on 13 pallets donated by the Order of the Byzantine Knights of the Holy Grave, Grand Priory Austria and dedicated by RCKIB to Kyiv City for pensioners and other inhabitants in need; the hand-over to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klitschko is planned for the 1st half of June.

We are looking forward to seeing us all again, and to developing joint projects such as the Inter-Country Committee Ukraine – Austria.

This week is a #WorldImmunizationWeek! Rotary knows firsthand that #VaccinesWork. Since 1988, through the science of immunization, Rotary & partners have saved nearly 19 million children from becoming paralyzed by polio. Today only two countries continue to report cases of polio caused by the wild poliovirus: Afghanistan and Pakistan. COVID19 reminds us that disease outbreaks anywhere can be a threat everywhere, and that fighting diseases requires global solidarity. That’s why RotaryEndPolio is committed to lending its tools, workforce & surveillance network to help countries respond COVID19, as well as to end the threat of polio for every child, everywhere. Did you know that:

  • Because #VaccinesWork, Rotary & partners have reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide since 1988.

  • Today only two countries continue to report cases of polio caused by the wild poliovirus: Afghanistan and Pakistan. Still, no child anywhere is safe until we’ve vaccinated every child. Unless we eradicate polio, within 10 years, as many as 200,000 new cases could occur around the world each year.

  • In countries where polio is a threat, kids’ pinkies are marked with purple ink after they’re immunized, helping #EndPolio health workers know which kids are protected.

  • The systems created to deliver polio vaccines to the hardest-to-reach areas of the world are helping #EndPolio workers find COVID19 cases, trace contacts & provide info on how to slow the spread of the virus

  • Amidst a challenging 2020 year for global health, the WHOAfro region was still certified wild polio-free because #VaccinesWork! (Learn how Rotary #EndPolio helped achieve this milestone: endpol.io/afro20)

#EndPolioNow won't stop until we end the disease for good. Learn more and donate to support #EndPolio www.endpolio.org #VaccinesWork #GlobalSolidarity #Rotary #RCKIB
